Yoga meditation - Add Meditation To Your Life (Part 1)

"Why I decided to Add Holistic Yoga Meditation to my daily life"

Everyone i know who enjoys the practice of meditation and yoga, initally became interested in it for their own individual reasons. Whether it is a change of lifestyle that a person might be after, or simply a need to relax at the end of the day, i have found this meditation practice to cover all the bases.

Before i began to add holistic yoga meditation to my daily life i was really experiencing a feeling of confusion. I wanted to know what 'it' was all about and what i was supposed to be doing. I enjoyed wandering here and there searching for something that seemed unfindable.

Whenever i returned from my travels i was always left with a feeling of "well, now what?" I was just as uncertian about things as before i left and had less money! Eventually my sniffing around and real desire to know what 'it' was all about led me to a person who gave me the opportunity to learn about the real meaning of meditation and taught me how to apply it to my life in a simple and fun way.

Yoga for Peace of Mind - Meditative slow and steady

After a surge of interest during the '60s, yoga began to fall out of favor. Exercisers lost patience with the meditative, slow but steady activity, and turned to the fast pace and quick shape-up of aerobics. Now yoga is back, less reminiscent of gurus in pretzel positions, and more attractive than ever to people who are interested in working out as well as working toward a spiritual goal.

Yoga is a great stretch and flexibility program. It is increasingly being used by those who are having problems balancing their work and personal life. A stressful working environment and a hectic schedule has an unwelcome impact on the personal lives of the modern day executives, so they are turning to yoga to bring about peace of their mind and to gain a perfect work life balance.

Yoga Relaxation - Holistic Yoga For Health

Several Yoga techniques are now being taught in mainstream hospitals and businesses; books about these yoga techniques are great sellers.

Even the Army is interested - it has asked the National Academy of Sciences to study meditation and other new age techniques that might enhance soldiers' performance.

Details differ, but a common theme is relaxing the body while keeping the mind alert and focused - on an object, sound, breath or body movement. If the mind wanders - and it always does - you gently bring it back and start again.

If you havn't been to a yoga class yet, now's the time to get started. Go along and enjoy the asanas, developing body awareness and especially the pranayama and meditation at the end of the class.
Experience the positive benefits for yourself.

Yoga Meditation 4221 Holistic Yoga Parasympathetic Nervous system

What we learnt

*  How can the breath stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system?
If we practice breathing focusing on lengthening exhalations this stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces the heart rate. Breathing through the left nostril stimulates the right cerebral hemisphere. The parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated decreasing body heat, heart rate and blood pressure.
