Yoga Meditation - How to practice 3 Part Yoga Breath

BREATHING

Complete Yoga Breathing:

Before practising yoga asanas it is good to relax and do some yoga breathing. Practise sarvasana at the end of yoga also. You can practise while standing but I think it's best practised lying on your mat.

If you like you could place a folded blanket or a bolster under the spine, from sacrum up and a block or a thin pillow under the head.

Relax down into your mat. Let your feet be floppy.
Bring your hands to your lower belly touching the tips of the thumbs together and touching the index fingers together around the belly button.

Breathing into the lower belly, feel the fingers seperating with the breath X 3 breaths.
Next, bring opposite hands to opposite sides of your lower rib cage, direct your breath to your hands, feel the lower ribs rising and expanding with the breath X 3 breaths.
Next, move the hands up to the upper ribs and tuck your hands into you arm pits, direct your breath to your hands, feel the upper ribs rising and expanding with the breath X 3 breaths.
Lastly, bring your hands up to your collar bones. You can keep your hands crossed, just check to make sure you are not rounding your shoulders, stay open and broad across the chest. Direct your breath to your hands and feel the collar bones gently rising as the breath fills the top part of the lungs and relaxing on the exhale.

Now, combine all of these areas into one full smooth inhale and exhale.

As you inhale think about filling a jug up with water, let the breath fill from the bottom of the lungs upwards. As you exhale visualise emptying the jug from the top all the way to the bottom. At the end of the breath gently squeeze the abdominal muscles to assist the full emptying of the lungs.

Three part yoga breathing is very relaxing, brings awareness to the breath and helps us to develop the great habit of deep breathing.

Try it, even 5 minutes each day will do you the world of good.

Yoga Meditation says "Wake Up" A joyful practise

Wake Up

This is very interesting.

There are 2 ways to interpret this. If you were someone motivated by material goals, to achieve, to work hard for a new car, a holiday, a house, or to become a millionaire by the time you are 30 years old, you could take this to mean "Get up" don't just lie around in bed ..! OR maybe you might not sleep much at all. Many are so driven, so motivated that they sleep very little. Always thinking about their goals and how to achieve them.

In the same way a transcendentalist also has goals. Very different goals, not of this world ... but of another world. Their eyes are fixed on the spiritual world, and spiritual eternal goals. This is the second interpretation of this saying.

Yoga teachings refer to the living beings in this world as being 'asleep.' Asleep to our real life, a life which has nothing to do with this material world BUT a world that extends far beyond the reach of matter. So to "wake up" would mean to wake up to this beautiful transcendental knowledge and our true identity. To wake up and really start living.

We the living beings are eternal, full of bliss, full of knowledge.

If you are not experiencing this condition and would like to know a very simple and enjoyable practise which can help you gradually over time make this your reality contact us to find out what you need to do.

The ancient practise that we teach does not require you join anything, or pay any money, it is non-sectarian, fun and a very joyful. You can practise alone, or with family and friends. Find out how by coming to a free class.

Yoga - Brief History from Yoga Meditation 4221 Holistic Yoga

Yoga Brief History

When you practice yoga, it is, of course, not necessary to have a full understanding of yoga history in order to fully benefit from your practice. A brief understanding of the history behind yoga, however, may increase your desire to take up the spiritual side of yoga practice and inspire you to find out more about the tradition behind the discipline.

Yoga was first passed from generation to generation by word of mouth. The first writings about yoga were written in Sanskrit in early religious manuscripts in India called the Vedas. The word ‘yoga’ has many meanings. The root of the word is ‘yug’ which means ‘to hitch up’, referring to fastening horse bridles to a carriage. But yoga also means ‘to actively put to use’ or ‘yoke’ or ‘join’. Yoga means a method of joining, a vehicle or means of joining or extablishing union with God. Men who practice yoga are even today called yogi or yogin and women who practice yoga are called yogini.

Yoga is not just about stretching and breathing and holding poses. Yoga is a philosophy on how to live life and deal with the physical as well as the spiritual challenges that human beings face daily.

Hatha yoga, or the yoga that you do when you take a yoga class or perform yogic poses, was begun as a physical form of meditation. The physical act of yoga calms your body and allows your mind to become calm. It also gives you the physical strength to sustain long periods of meditation which is why the saints and sages practised physical yoga thousands of years ago in preparation for deep meditation and self-realisation.

When you perform the physical practice of yoga, you are only engaging in part of the discipline as it was originally practiced for thousands of years. Yoga is an incredible form of exercise and is calming for the body and mind, but it can also be used as a spiritual practice and a way to calm the emotions and will.

Here are a few types of yoga being practiced today. Bhakti yoga, Mantra yoga, Mantra Meditation And Yoga, Hatha yoga.

Yoga meditation philosophy - The soul is eternal

This is a great photo :)

Maybe those in younger bodies may not be able to "GET" what this photo is all about.

To older folks though this photo speaks a 1000 words.

This photo portrays a 'feeling' an intuitive feeling, an awareness or inkling that 'we' are seperate from the body. It doesn't matter how old our vehicle (our physical body) gets "WE" or "I" the eternal spirit spark, temporarily inhabiting the physical body - never feels old. It is only when an older person looks in the mirror that they are reminded of the fact that the body is indeed growing OLD.

We often hear our aunts or uncles, parents saying exactly that, " My body is getting older, but 'I' still  feel like a 16 year old.

This photo perfectly reflects the reality spoken about in ancient scripture, timeless knowledge which has been handed down since time immemorial, from one self realised soul to student and disciple.

The Supreme Soul speaks of this in detail in the Song of God (Bhagavad-Gita As It Is) where you can find numerous references to the fact that the soul is eternal, BUT the body is temporary, is born, experiences diseases, old age and finally when the body is too worn out, when it can no longer sustain life, can no longer accomodate the eternal soul. The soul at that point moves on and the body dies.

Yoga philosophy, the Vedas are comprised of thousands of volumes, jam packed with incredible information on life as it could be, should be, can be, depending on ones openness to spiritual wisdom.

We are all on different levels of spiritual growth, this does not matter, the main thing is to climb on board, have a look, check it out and discover what spiritual growth and wisdom is about. Find out how you can benefit, how your family and your friends can benefit. Just take some time, to look a little deeper.

There's an old saying, "The proof of the pudding is in the eating," Try dipping your toe in the ocean of transcendental knowledge and experience the freedom and joy for yourself.

Yoga Benefits - Yoga Meditation 4221 Holistic Yoga

Benefits of Yoga

Yoga through meditation works remarkably to achieve harmony and helps the mind
work in synchronization with the body. How often do we find that we are unable to
perform our activities properly and in a satisfying manner because of the confusions
and conflicts in our mind weigh down heavily upon us?

Stress is the number one suspect affecting all parts of our physical, endocrinal and
emotional system. And with the help of yoga this things can be corrected.

At the physical level, yoga and its cleansing practices have proven to be extremely
effective for various disorders.

Listed below are just some of the benefits of yoga that you can get.

Benefits of Yoga 1: Yoga is known to increase flexibility; yoga has postures that
trigger the different joints of the body. Including those joints that are not acted upon
with regular exercise routines.

Benefits of Yoga 2: Yoga also increases the lubrication of joints, ligament and
tendons. The well-researched yoga positions exercise the different tendons and
ligaments of the body.

It has also been found that the body which may have started doing yoga being a
rigid one may experience a quite remarkable flexibility in the end on those parts of
the body which have not been consciously worked upon.

Yoga - Relieve back pain - Gauranga Meditation

Yoga Can Help Relieve Back Pain

Regular yoga practice will help to relieve the stress and tension that sometimes cause mild back pain, and in fact, studies have shown that yoga is the number one most effective exercise for relieving back pain. However, not all yoga poses relieve back pain, and some can in fact aggravate existing pain, so it is important to know which poses are helpful.

It is always best to do these yoga exercises under the supervision of a certified yoga instructor, and if you encounter any problems with these poses, always consult an expert.

Just a couple of sessions with a yoga instructor can help, an instructor will help you with your form and posture during poses. Here is one of the best yoga poses for relieving back pain. This pose should be done on a mat or other soft, supportive surface.

Corpse Pose: Lie flat on your back in a relaxed position, arms resting at your sides, palms down, and legs lying naturally, with knees turned out slightly. If it hurts your back to have your knees turned outward, do this pose with knees bent, feet flat on the floor. Breathe in and out slowly and deeply for a few minutes while allowing any tension to leave the body. To further relax the body and the mind you could also add a Meditation to your outward breath. For instance the mantra Gauranga which is a non-material spiritually uplifting sound which brings peace to the heart and soothes the emotions. It's very simple process.

1. While in Corpse pose INHALE through the nostrils while focusing on the Gauranga meditation. As you EXHALE say outloud Gauranga for the full extention of the outward breath. Repeat for at least 5 minutes and experience it for yourself.

This practise has many physical and well as emotional and spiritual benefits making it a truly holistic practise and experience.

Yoga Meditation Practice Part 2 - Add meditation to your life.

Why I practise Yoga Meditation (Part 2)

Just by doing it i was able to experience all the benefits that people desire to achieve from holistic yoga meditation, even if i wasn't initally after them. I could feel myself being more able to relax. Any tension from the day could be melted away with ease. My mind started becoming clearer and i could more effectively see and deal with the stressful situations that inevitably arise in our lives.

Because of this, stress levels naturally decrease. As stress levels decrease, all sorts of positive benifits can manifest in the body. I also noticed my relationships with people around me improving. I was finding myself better able to relate to others in a kind and understanding way, and experiencing a genuine care for their wellbeing.

Truly, every aspect of my life has improved. All the details that we struggle with are included in the benefits of this meditation practice. All that i needed to do was make the practice of holistic yoga meditation a part of my day.

It could very easily sound like one of those too good to be true kinds of things. But the beauty of it is there is nothing to loose. It is more than worth a few hours of your time to attend a couple of the classes and learn what it is all about. Guaranteed no regrets!

All the best on a wonderful journey!

Yoga meditation - Add Meditation To Your Life (Part 1)

"Why I decided to Add Holistic Yoga Meditation to my daily life"

Everyone i know who enjoys the practice of meditation and yoga, initally became interested in it for their own individual reasons. Whether it is a change of lifestyle that a person might be after, or simply a need to relax at the end of the day, i have found this meditation practice to cover all the bases.

Before i began to add holistic yoga meditation to my daily life i was really experiencing a feeling of confusion. I wanted to know what 'it' was all about and what i was supposed to be doing. I enjoyed wandering here and there searching for something that seemed unfindable.

Whenever i returned from my travels i was always left with a feeling of "well, now what?" I was just as uncertian about things as before i left and had less money! Eventually my sniffing around and real desire to know what 'it' was all about led me to a person who gave me the opportunity to learn about the real meaning of meditation and taught me how to apply it to my life in a simple and fun way.

Nadi Shodan - Read the benefits

Nadi Shodan (Alternate Nostril Breathing)

How can the breath stimulate the sympathetic nervous system?
If we practice breathing while gently focusing on the breath held out, this stimulates the sympathetic nervous system and increases the heart rate. Studies have also shown that when we breath through the right nostril this also stimulates the sympathetic nervous system, which helps increase body heat, oxygen consumption blood pressure and heart rate. The left cerebral hemisphere is also stimulated.

Sue's Thoughts - Holistic Yoga Meditation Palm Beach 4221

It was a very warm day in March, when the almost full moon was already shining bright in the sky.
The sun had set but there was still enough light left to take an early evening walk to the beach.
As I crossed the concrete walk / bike way which runs along the beachfront at Kingscliff, a young girl (maybe around 8 years old) called out as she briskly went by on her bike, "isn't it wonderful that the bike was invented,"
I smiled and continued on my way to the beach. The moonlight shone on the waves as they broke gently on the shore.
There was a refreshing breeze coming off the ocean and as I sat just near the water's edge to meditate with my prayer beads,
I thought; "Isn't it wonderful that God has invented all this and that He has allowed us to be part of it all".

Best Regards Sue

Practise Holistic Yoga Meditation - Peace and Stress relief

I started meditation about 30 years ago and have found the benefits to be life changing. I thought i was having lots of fun in my life before meditation but life has gotten so much better.

The Meditation has given me so much more than i could have ever imagined. It has given me direction, clarity and an inner peace. It helps me deal with any problems that come up through out the day with lightness and ease, instead of becoming bogged down with anxiety and stress. Stress is still there, we can't get away from that because the fact is this world is stressful, but my daily practise of meditation helps me try to cope with any and all situations with some degree of grace . I am very thankful for having had the
opportunity to learn this meditation. I especially enjoy being able to share and pass it on to my friends.

Relaxation - Holistic Yoga Stretch and Meditation

Holistic Yoga Stretch…

Benefits body, mind, heart and soul.

The benefits of Yoga are well documented and have been appreciated by Eastern Cultures since ancient times. More recently the West has begun to embrace the holistic benefits of Yoga.We can always gauge what the current trends are by the media and yes sadly by the advertising. Have you noticed how many laptop owners get down to the beach and sit in the lotus yoga pose while gazing out over the tranquil ocean. Ah - Yes, progress:-)

Seriously though, the practice of Yoga has devotees world wide and is glorified as being the absolute best exercise for the up-keep and maintenance of the physical
body.

Yoga works all areas of the body, internally and externally, helping to keep the body (our life vehicle) in as tip top condition as possible.

Classes begin with a few minutes of sacred sound meditation, followed by Yoga Nidra and then the Yoga stretches begin. Yoga Nidra is repeated again at the end of the yoga stretches. We then finish off with a few minutes of "Spiritual Food for Thought" and group singing meditation which perfectly rounds out our Yoga practice.

A blissfully rejuvenating experience for body, mind, heart and soul.

Will post an easy relaxation class at a later date, so that you can experience it for yourself.

Warm regards

Healing Yoga Meditation 4221 - Holistic Yoga Is great for health

Indeed, the healing aspect of yoga is a key to its renewed popularity. The strained knees, aching backs and neck pains generated by the push for fitness and the stress of making it in a competitive world have inspired a packaged set of a book and audio cassettes. Some orthopedic surgeons, chiropractors and neurologists are now referring patients to specific yogis during treatment.

Growing interest in the mind-body connection is fueling a major comeback of the ancient practice, boosted by research suggesting it can reduce stress and blood pressure, improve work performance, even slow effects of aging.

Yoga Meditation Holistic Yoga - Om Hari Om Meditation

Om Hari Om
The use of relaxation and meditation in yoga classes is very common. Mantra's such as OM HARI OM or Gauranga are generally practised at the beginning and the end of a holistic yoga class. These Mantra's are transcendental sound vibrations, not ordinary sound. They are the perfect way to end a holistic yoga class. After physically working the body out during yoga, it is an opportunity to rest the heart and mind on the beautiful sounds of the meditations. Sometimes sung out loud as a group, or "call and response" where the teacher leads the meditation and those who want to join in do so if they wish. Very cleansing for the mind, relaxing for the mind and body and very nourishing for the heart. Often called "Food for the soul". Very enjoyable and loved by all.

Yoga Practise by Yoga Meditation Palm Beach 4221

Yoga is the most prominent form of the mind-body-spirit health movement. Followed by practises like tai chi, qigong and other meditative forms of exercise.

The practice of yoga for some integrates every aspect of human existence. While many modern Western practitioners focus on the physical asanas, for others, yoga is an all-encompassing way of life and a stepping stone to developing spiritual awareness and ultimately self realisation.

The practise of yoga is delightfully simple and can be done anywhere, anytime. For some yoga encompasses everything from a moral code and dietary practices to deep meditation. Most commonly though, it's a combination of asanas, pranayama (breathing exercises) and some meditation.

Yoga Meditation 4221 Palm Beach Qld - Yoga Stretching

Yoga Stretch -- Pelvic Tilts

We have such busy lifestyles, some days it's so... not possible to put in a full hour and a half of yoga. It would be possible however, on most days to find the time to squeeze in a 10 to 20 minute sequence that would stretch the back, hamstrings, and hips, which are huge problem areas for many of us. If you are able to do this consistently you will see and experience over a relatively short period of time the positive effect stretches have on your regular holistic yoga sessions.

Any and all stretches are beneficial but pelvic tilts are super amazing and very easy to do. Often times we go along our merry way, keeping busy and don't even realize that our backs are stiff and hurting until we take a break or lie down on our yoga mats. The first few pelvic tilts you practice may feel a bit rusty and reveal traces of lower back pain, but after 10 to 20 pelvic tilts, the pain is normally gone. Do them slowly, and keep going until any niggly pain is gone and the movement feels fluid and good. Remember to focus inwards and practise your complete yoga breathing in conjuction with your pelvic tilts. Afterwards rest and then roll up and stretch your arms overhead.

Pelvis Tilts

Lie down on your mat. Bend your knees, placing your feet on the mat. Draw the belly button to the spine and gently lift your pelvic floor as you exhale pressing your spine gently into your mat and gently round your tailbone up off the mat.

Inhale, releasing and gently press your tailbone down. (This will cause your spine to round up off the mat). Simply repeat for as long as your wish.

Cautions:

Do not do if you are pregnant, have severe back problems or disc problems.

Yoga on the beach - Yoga Meditation Palm Beach 4221

Yoga on the beach

When practiced regularly, yoga offers numerous health benefits, such as increased strength and flexibility, and decreased blood pressure and cholesterol levels. However, the greater benefits of yoga are arguably the psychological ones. Yoga combines physical activity with self-awareness, which promotes a mind-body connection.

Yoga Meditation 4221 Palm Beach - Yoga Breathing And Mala Beads

Yoga will teach you breathing techniques that will prepare you for other exercises. In yoga classes, students often learn breathing techniques that help calm and focus the mind. With these techniques you will be able to breathe more fully so there will be more oxygen going to your brain and throughout the other parts of the body.

Since yoga will help you to increase flexibility, you will be able to prevent some injures when you are doing other sports or exercises. Yoga can be viewed as an entire exercise regimen focused on stretching muscles. It also helps minimize and prevent injuries because yoga encourages you to work within your limits.

The safest way to practice yoga is in the comfort of a class and with a certified instructor. Ask your teacher for some tips on how you can improve on your yoga skills and use yoga to help you become better at other sports and exercises. You should always speak with your doctor when you are starting any exercise routine.

Beads are a Bhakti Yoga and Buddhist tool of meditation. They are moved in rhythm with the breath and mantra of the meditation. The action of moving the beads keeps sleep and distraction at bay and incorporates the whole body in a meditation. Each time the mantra is repeated, the fingers move to the next bead. The mala is meant to focus the mind and promote clear thought about the meaning of the mantra as it is chanted. Schools of thought, from India, to Tibet, to China recommend different ways of holding and counting Mala beads. However, each meditation should encompass the full cycle of beads. Longer meditations should include additional full cycles, starting at the summit and circling around again to the beginning. Reorient offers sandalwood Mala beads from Guangdong province in China. Each string has 108 beads.
